Your first week

Your first week at University of Northwest is known as Welcome Week. It’s a great chance to meet people and get settled in.

Each year, we organise loads of events designed to help you get to know our university, while making new friends and having fun.

There are the usual nights out, parties and social events, but also tours and useful sessions to help you learn your way around the campus and local area. There are events to help you prepare for study and learn about the resources and services available. We also arrange taster sessions for societies and sports teams so you can try them out before joining. There’s something for everyone, no matter what your interests are

You’ll find information for new students, and details of events, on our Welcome website. During Welcome Week, we have Welcome Helpers who are current students or recent graduates. They’re there to answer your questions from a student perspective and help you adjust to uni life.

If you feel like you’re struggling to settle in, or want to talk about the available support we can offer, talk to our Student Services Team. We’re here to help you throughout your studies with your general wellbeing, money management, study skills, career planning and more. Find out more about our Student Services Team.
